Aaron Guy

Balloons from the series About Face

College/University: Newcastle College (Leeds Met)
Course Level/Title: BA Creative Practice

When About Face began in early 2005, Aaron Guy was considering questions of the effects of the UK’s coal pit closures from the mid-1980s to the current state of opencast mining in the North East of England. In tackling what seems to be an unanswerable question, Guy has found an evolving landscape and a community that is still working to keep a struggling coal economy afloat. Guy is currently working on cataloguing and creating a digital archive of the North East of England Mining Institute’s photographic material. www.aaronguy.org
