Resettlement focuses on the vernacular architecture, in particular the transient, makeshift structures inhabited by the forced migrants of the 1930s Great Depression. By sampling images from the Farm Security Administration catalogue, a vast collection of works by photographers including Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange that remain touchstones in the history of documentary photography, Julia Curtin has constructed models of the original depicted buildings. In doing so, she attempts to open up a new space for the interpretation of this work. www.juliacurtin.com
